About me
Anaesthetist
Melbourne, Australia
I am a specialist anaesthetist (anesthesiologist) practising in Melbourne. I have a private practice with special interests in anaesthesia for eye, ear, nose and throat surgery and for gynaecology, as well as providing cover on emergency rosters. A large part of my practice involves anaesthesia and perioperative care for surgery related to endometriosis and other causes of pelvic pain.
I studied medicine at the University of Melbourne, was a medical resident at the Alfred Hospital and undertook specialist anaesthetic training at Southern Health and at the Mercy Hospital for Women. I completed my resident training with a fellowship at the Royal Melbourne Hospital in 2008, focusing on cardiac anaesthesia and the use of ultrasound in anaesthesia. I then worked at the Dandenong, and later the Royal Victorian Eye and Ear Hospital entering full-time private practice in 2019.
I have also had a longstanding interest in trainee education and safety as well as wider professional issues. I am currently a director and Honorary Treasurer of the Australian Society of Anaesthetists, co-convened the Society’s annual professional development day for new Victorian anaesthetists over many years and was on the committee convening the Society’s 2023 international Scientific Congress in Melbourne.
I have a longstanding in interest in medicolegal issues, and graduated with a law degree in 2021. I am an experienced expert witness and my profile for medicolegal opinions in the fields of anaesthesia and care around the time of surgery is available here.
